We often hear the words ā€œLet it go.ā€But when you’re holding pain, worries, or old memories, that can sound easier said than done.So what does ā€œletting goā€ really mean in meditation?

When we hold onto past experiences, our minds become filled with layers of false thoughts, judgments, and emotions.These layers block the peace that already exists within us.

Letting go means recognizing that those layers are not truly you.It’s not about erasing memories, but about freeing yourself from the emotional weight they bring.

Try this simple three-step practice:


  1. Recognize what’s in your mind.


    Write down the thoughts or worries that keep repeating—about work, relationships, or the past.


  2. Observe without judgment.


    Don’t try to fix or suppress them.

    Just notice, ā€œThis is what’s inside me.ā€


  3. Discard one by one.


    Ask yourself, ā€œDo I need to keep this in my mind?ā€

    When you see that you don’t, the thought naturally fades away.
